Tyson Beckford Says the "Era" of the Supermodel is Now "Over"
Tyson Beckford, the host of Bravo's Make Me a Supermodel, says the "era" of the supermodel is now over. The world's first black male supermodel is making news in Africa and India with remarks made during his recent trip to Nigeria.
The American model said that if today's wannabe models make it big in the fashion world, they need to be all-singing and all-dancing as well as drop-dead gorgeous.
"I believe the era of myself, Naomi, Claudia and Kate has gone now. Models are trained to act, sing and dance now because the bar is set so high and you have to stand out," The Daily Express quoted him, as saying. ...
He added: "It's difficult to be a household name these days, with so many reality stars that have no talent. But if you can get your 15 minutes of fame then I'd say take it!"
If you're noticing that in recent pictures the 37-year-old Tyson Beckford is looking more buff than ever, he admits to "being on a strict water and tuna diet" to get back into modeling. In June, the supermodel slash reality television host was the featured model in DSquared2's Spring/Summer 2009 menswear collection in Milan.
Tyson Beckford says the supermodel era is over, but, he certainly will always be in style.
